AUGUST 2006 BROADSHEET - Annual Garden Party

Annual Garden Party

Thursday 3rd August 2006

Jesus College, Cambridge

The CETC’s 2005/06 programme concluded with our annual Garden Party, which as usual was held in the beautiful surroundings of Jesus College.

Dr John Read, who is the Chairman of the CETC, opened proceedings by welcoming the 80 guests, who included some of the speakers from our events over the last year.  John summarised another successful year of events for the CETC.  He also announced that Jamie Murray, who is a current Committee member, would be taking over as Honorary Secretary of the CETC in the Autumn.

Valerie Dring MBE, who is Business Development Director at NatWest, then presented the CETC with a generous sponsorship cheque from the bank for £1,000.  NatWest is part of the Royal Bank of Scotland, which provides banking services to a large majority of the UK’s blue chip companies.  Val’s NatWest arm remains committed to Silicon Fen’s entrepreneurial and growing businesses, as the sponsorship of the CETC demonstrates.

Guy Mulley, who shortly stands down as Honorary Secretary, then gave a valedictory talk.  In his customary entertaining and humorous way, he reflected on the workings of and the purpose of the CETC.  His new role as Director of Employer Consulting at Price Bailey means that he will no longer have the capacity to act as Honorary Secretary, but he will remain a member of the Committee.

The Club is very fortunate in benefiting from the sponsorship of the following organisations:-
